The public can now bring complaints about private nursing homes to Ombudsman Peter Tyndall. From 24 August 2015 the Ombudsman has had his powers extended so that he can independently examine complaints about private nursing homes in receipt of public funding under subvention or through the Nursing Home Support Scheme (also known as ‘Fair Deal’).
Ombudsman Peter Tyndall has today, Thursday 25 June, welcomed the announcement by Minister Brendan Howlin and Minister Leo Varadkar that his Office will be able to examine complaints from the public about private nursing homes.
Ombudsman and Information Commissioner Peter Tyndall has today welcomed the recommendations of an Oireachtas Committee contained in a report on the Direct Provision system for asylum seekers.
